  • Our highest priority is safety and do our best to ensure safe training practices. However, Jiu Jitsu is a combat marital art so there is always a risk of injury.

  • Yes! Due to the effectiveness of Jiu Jitsu in the early days of the UFC, BJJ is now a pillar of every MMA fighter’s arsenal. It also has numerous ways to deal with strikes, weapons, and even if someone is bigger than you.

  • Of course, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

  • Comfortable, clean gym clothes. Nothing too baggy. Compression pants with shorts and an athletic t-shirt is perfect. When possible, you should also remove jewelry and piercings.

  • You should expect to learn, sweat, and meet some new people! An instructor or more senior student will assist you in learning the terms and movements involved for the class. Mostly importantly, you should expect to have fun!

  • No. Everyone starts their marital art journey with a different level of strength, flexibility, height, and endurance. Our job is to help you reach your fitness goals while teaching you effective Jiu Jitsu that suits your individual body.

  • Yes! We encourage you to try out some classes to make sure we’re the best fit for you.

  • That depends on you! Your personal effort on and off the mat will be the main factor. We’re here to help guide you along the way.

  • Not really. All we ask is you show up on time for class and come with a positive, ready to learn attitude! We do follow a few small traditions such as bowing before stepping on the mat.

  • Always follow the instructions on the tag, but when in doubt wash with cold water and hang dry.

  • Nope. All classes are taught fully in English. Though, there may be some Japanese or Portugese names used (names of techniques for example) during the class.
